Site Supervisor, Operations and Construction, Liferaft:

We are hiring a Site Supervisor to lead the day-to-day execution of construction and startup for our first biochar production facility in Atalissa, Iowa, and to oversee ongoing operations once the plant is operational. This role serves as the primary on-site owner's representative and is responsible for ensuring work proceeds safely, correctly, and on schedule. You will be hired well ahead of plant startup and play a hands-on role throughout construction, equipment installation, and commissioning. As the facility comes online, this role is expected to evolve into long-term site leadership. This is a field-first role. You will be on-site whenever work is underway.

Biochar is a stable, carbon-rich material made by heating waste biomass in a low-oxygen system. When applied to soil, it improves water retention, nutrient availability, and overall soil health while permanently locking carbon in the ground. This facility is being built at an industrial scale to turn local waste material into a real product that benefits farmers, strengthens the surrounding environment, and delivers durable carbon removal that lasts for centuries. This will be a working industrial plant designed to operate daily and deliver a visible, long-term impact on the community.

What You Will Do:

You will maintain a daily on-site presence during active construction, coordinating contractors, vendors, inspectors, and deliveries while directing daily work sequencing and site logistics. You will enforce safety standards and pause work when conditions are unsafe, verify that work aligns with approved drawings, specifications, and intent, and maintain clear documentation, such as daily logs, photos, safety records, and issue tracking. You will identify risks early and escalate issues before delays or rework occur, support inspections, permitting activities, and utility coordination, assist with equipment installation, testing, and commissioning, and help establish practical operating procedures as the plant transitions into operations.

You will help design and implement site systems for safety, maintenance tracking, contractor access, documentation, and day-to-day operations that can scale as additional sites come online.

You will play a central role in standing up site-specific health and safety programs, training expectations, and compliance practices appropriate for an operating industrial facility.

Success in this role means construction progresses without preventable downtime, the site remains safe, organized, and well-documented, and issues are surfaced early so leadership is informed, not surprised. This role is best suited for someone who has managed industrial or heavy construction sites, is comfortable making decisions in the field, enforcing standards, and maintaining disciplined documentation, and who understands that clear records protect both the project and the team. You will have direct access to engineering, vendors, and leadership, while serving as the clear on-site decision-maker accountable for daily execution. This role is not a fit for someone who prefers remote work, desk-only project management, or loose documentation.

In the early stages, this role will combine site supervision with hands-on understanding of plant systems, creating a natural path toward future maintenance or broader site leadership responsibilities.

Experience We're Looking For:

We are looking for someone with prior experience as a site supervisor, superintendent, or owner's representative, with a strong understanding of construction sequencing and real jobsite conditions. You should be comfortable reading and interpreting drawings and technical documentation, coordinating multiple contractors and trades, and enforcing construction safety and OSHA requirements. You are organized, detail-oriented, and disciplined in consistently documenting your work.

Competitive salary benchmarked to experienced site leadership roles in the region, performance bonus tied to real project milestones, health insurance, vision insurance, dental insurance, 401(k), paid time off, company laptop, and phone.

Compensation includes a competitive base salary in the $90,000-$120,000 range, depending on experience, plus a performance bonus tied to real project milestones.

We are moving quickly and expect to make a hire in the near term.
